Pacific Research Institute’s Benjamin Zycher: Policy Changes are Needed to Spur Job Creation
Joining “Neal Asbury’s Truth for America” for his first appearance was Benjamin Zycher PhD, a senior fellow at the Pacific Research Institute, which since its founding in 1979, has remained steadfast to the vision of a free and civil society where individuals can achieve their full potential. Dr. Zycher suggested that a set of policy changes is required to “foster more confidence in hiring. This out of control spending will have to be paid for. Nobody thinks this can happen without raising taxes to pay it back. Add the healthcare bill to the mix, and small businesses won’t hire until they know how much they will have to pay in new taxes, especially the mandatory coverage provisions.” Dr. Zycher is alarmed that President Obama’s ultimate goal is expanding the size of government.... U.S. Senatorial Candidate Eric Wargotz: Incumbent “Dinosaurs” Overstayed their Role as Effective Legislators
Neal Asbury opened the show by suggesting that there were two significant themes that highlighted President Obama’s Oval Office speech last week. The first is the end of combat operations in Iraq, which is a great achievement that deserves recognition. But Asbury maintained that Obama lost an opportunity to show some bipartisan support by not recognizing the role that ex-president George Bush played in approving the surge that turned the tide in Iraq. The second theme highlighted in the speech was the President’s acknowledgment that “he could now concentrate on the economy.” Asbury pondered that while the President has a full plate, and that he enjoys multitasking, “why did it take the end of combat operations in Iraq to remind him that the economy needs his full attention?”... Brookings Institution’s Bill Antholis: Lack of Clarity in Obama Agenda is Holding Up Job Creation
Neal Asbury opened the show by proclaiming: “We want to feel good again about this country. We want our mojo back.” He pointed to the staggering unemployment rate of nearly 30 percent (factoring those on unemployment; those who have stopped looking; and workers holding down “shadow jobs” where they are working part-time or are overqualified, over educated and underpaid for their current job). He likened this unemployment rate to those of developing nations. “Jobs are the cause of this country’s insecurity. The stimulus package was a failure, and Obama initiatives like cap and trade, card check and the health care plan are job killers, not job creators. If I was running for office, I would have job creation tattooed on my forehead and ask that every other politician do the... Read More

Florida Congressional Candidate Corey Poitier: “Bailouts are Bad”
Corey B. Poitier, a conservative Republican candidate for the Florida State Senate, District #35, joined Neal. No career politician, Corey is a school teacher and coach, who was born in Miami-Dade County and has lived in South Florida for 35 years. Poitier decided to run for Congress after watching the Florida school system suffer due to waste and the power of teachers unions. He thought there was a better way to run the State. He says that he has the passion and conviction that voters are looking for, especially his deep commitment to Israel, one of America’s most important allies. Poitier believes that that “there are too many politicians that are only in it for themselves.” Recognizing that he is in a David vs. Goliath battle, he believes that being the only conservative candidate... Cato Trade Expert Sallie James: Agricultural Subsidies & Pork Barrel Funds Need to Stop
Neal Asbury opened the show by recounting that the nation’s unemployment rate is above ten percent, with some 15 million Americans looking for work, and millions more that just stopped looking or are underemployed or just working part-time. Taking this into account he estimated that the total unemployment rate is actually closer to 20 percent. With such staggering numbers, Asbury suggested that it’s hard for most of us to grasp the human dimension to this atmosphere of despair, quoting some disturbing numbers that more than 1million men between the ages of 35-54 have been out of work for at least one year, and that nearly 1 million African Americans have been out of work for at least one year. As Asbury has noted many times, jobs need to come from the private sector. That’s where... Read More
Heritage Foundation’s Ernest Istook Proposes Congress is Engaged in Zombie Politics
Joining “Neal Asbury’s Truth for America” for a repeat visit was Ernest Istook, Distinguished Fellow in Government Relations for the Heritage Foundation, a research and educational institution—a think tank—founded in 1973 whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. Istook also served 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives before joining Heritage in 2007. Istook is concerned that the new $26 billion proposed by Congress to bail out states is just another example of the White House throwing more good money after bad, adding to the $787 billion already spent on the federal stimulus program. Istook is particularly... Read More
Texas Congressman John Culberson Maintains National Deficit is Threat to Security
Neal Asbury opened the show by celebrating the contention from the Wall Street Journal that the despised Cap and Tax energy bill is officially dead. Despite being reviled by small, medium and large businesses, Asbury marveled that it was nevertheless once hailed by Democrats as the greatest achievement in controlling carbon emissions. Now even some of these same Democrats who voted for it are trying to distant themselves from this poorly conceived plan. Asbury proposed that most people knowledgeable about this bill know that it would have done almost nothing to reduce global carbon emissions, especially if it didn’t include the world’s two biggest polluters: China and India. What’s worse, according to Asbury, is that the bill would have raised the average energy bill for most Americans... Read More
American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow Kevin Hassett: Ideologues in Obama Administration are Gambling with America’s Economic Future
Joining “Neal Asbury’s Truth for America” as a return guest was Kevin A Hassett, Senior Fellow and Director of Economic Policy Studies of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, a private, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution dedicated to research and education on issues of government, politics, economics, and social welfare. Founded in 1943, AEI is home to some of America’s most accomplished public policy experts–from economics, law, political science, defense and foreign policy studies, ethics, theology, health care, and other fields. Hassett wondered why the Democrats voted to borrow more money to extend the unemployment insurance benefits rather than paying for them by looking for cuts in other programs and using these funds to pay for... Cato Institute Director Dan Griswold: Unionization Made America Less Competitive in Global Trade
Racism was the issue that kicked off Neal Asbury’s nationally syndicated “Neal Asbury’s Truth for America Show” on WZAB-AM. He opened the show by noting that despite the fact that he was proud that America elected an African-American president, it did not mean that he had to agree with President Obama’s policies. But this has nothing to do with race, Neal quickly pointed out, but rather some administration policies that he believes are undermining the country. What is disturbing is the re-emergence of racism, largely spurred by the story of the forced resignation of Georgia State Director Shirley Sherrod over supposed racist remarks she made about a white farmer. While she has since been exonerated and has been offered back her old job, any discussion of racism sets this country... Read More

Investigative Reporter Edwin Black Contends American Electric Car Program Killed by Criminal Conspiracy
In May the US trade deficit jumped to its highest level since November 2008. Neal suggested that the growing deficit is another sign that the federal government’s lack of support for U.S. exports and free enterprise continues to sap the economy and forestall job creation. He reminded listeners that in the 17 countries where the US has a free trade agreement, the US enjoys an export surplus. Taking that into account, Asbury proposed that Congress’ continuing inability to pass three pending free trade agreements with Panama, Colombia and South Korea is putting the US at a trade disadvantage in these markets. Asbury maintained that the federal government needs to get out of the way of US entrepreneurs so they can play on a level playing field with the rest of the world. Joining the show was... Read More
