US Chamber’s Bruce Josten: Concerned Obama’s Decision to Demonize Chamber will only Punish Small Business and Slow Job Creation

Neal Asbury opened the show by wondering why the Obama administration is willing to “throw small business under the bus” so that Democrats can save their skin by not voting to extend the Bush tax cuts.

“Most legislators in this country agree that small business is the lifeblood of job creation. So I’m having a hard time understanding why Democrats are choosing to run for the hills rather than extend the Bush tax cuts which would give small business the money they need to grow and hire. They are trying to suggest that extending the tax cuts will help fat cats –which is nonsense. It will give small business the money they need to hire and invest in their business,” said Asbury

This issue is critical for small business, according to Asbury. The permanent extension of the Bush tax cuts is favored by successful small to medium-sized businesses that provide about 75 percent of the job growth for this country. Economists agree that President Obama’s plan to limit future tax breaks would harm the 73 percent of small business owners that file taxes as individuals.

“This is yet another terrible policy decision perpetrated by an administration where only 8 percent of its advisors have any business experience. Extending the Bush tax cuts is good for business and good for America. This midterm election, send a message to Congress that we need to support this important initiative so we can create more jobs. Vote to change the direction this country is going,” added Asbury.

Bruce Josten, executive vice president for Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, made a return appearance on Neal Asbury’s “Truth for America.” Josten characterized the recent attacks on the US Chamber by the Obama administration as reminiscent of the McCarthy Witch Hunt of the 1950s. Josten described the attacks as “an act of desperation by Democrats trying to galvanize a disheartened base using us a foil that will not work.”
Josten noted that even the main stream media are rejecting claims that the Chamber must divulge the names of their donors. Josten reminded listeners that when the names of some Chamber donors inadvertently made public these companies were set upon by protestors and even threatened.
Josten revealed that the controversy has been orchestrated by the Center for American Progress, which is run by John Podesta, a former Obama advisor.

“Nobody wants to alienate American business, so I’m not sure why the Obama administration is going after us. Worse, they are turning the law upside down: accusing us of being guilty until proven innocent. The new Obama slogan is ‘stoop to smear to create fear’,” said Josten.

“Accusing us of accepting foreign money to influence the US election is outrageous. Since 1908 it has been illegal to accept foreign money to influence an election and they know it. We use our funds legally to work with US companies who want us to educate our key audiences about the importance of supporting free trade. We are in synch with the American public—unlike the Obama administration, when it comes to creating jobs,” said Josten.

Josten proposed that a result of Obama policies a state of uncertainty exists which is keeping small business from investing. “Businesses will not invest when they are in limbo, especially when it comes to tax issues,” said Josten.

Josten predicts that to recoup the jobs lost during the present recession, it will take 10 years to create the 20 million jobs that the US will need to generate.

I have supported a lot of these politicians and now that I need help, no one wants to assist me. I have tried to get a scholarship or grant to complete my college education in Early Childhood Education with no help. The scholarship and grant places want to have you attend the college of their choice not the college that I am already attending.

I am just asking for someone to help me get a scholarship or grant so that I can pay off the over $65,000.00 in debt that this is costing me.

Politicians turn their backs on you when you ask for help but they constantly call and email you to support them. They really don’t care about the people just keeping the position or getting the position of their choice with our help.
I doubt if me and my friends and family will vote this year.

Re: “run for the hills”, “throw under the bus”?

I believe these are far too vague descriptions to assess what it is the Obama administration is actually doing to support this argument that he and whoever are doing something *specific* to harm small business interests and the US economy.

Re: “Extending the Bush tax cuts is good for business and good for America. ”

Without any specifics as to how or why or a model or method for why this might be, I am yet to be convinced.

Re: “act of desperation by Democrats trying to galvanize a disheartened base using us a foil that will not work.”

Again, very eloquently worded, but… it has no content or value whatsoever that is meaningful.

Whoever this man is speaking these words has a way with them, but clearly he does a poor job at listing specific examples to support these highly concocted, literary shams.
